SPRINGHILL, N.S. - A 64-year-old Springhill man is in custody following an incident in Springhill Sept. 1 that left a man with stab wounds in his back and neck.

The Springhill detachment of the Cumberland District RCMP were notified that evening that a man was in hospital in Springhill with stab wounds, however he refused to tell police what happened to him.

Upon investigation, officers found a second man had been seriously injured following an altercation with the first injured man. He said that Revere Ruddick had beaten him with a guitar, resulting in broken bones in his face and arm and a fractured skull.

The victim had used a knife to defend himself.

Police arrested Ruddick for aggravated assault on Sept. 2. He was charged, held in custody, and appeared in provincial court in Amherst on Sept. 4. He has been remanded and is scheduled to return to court on Friday.

The victim remains in hospital.
