YARMOUTH - The Town of Yarmouth will be monitoring the structural integrity of Killam Wharf (location of gazebo and entrance to marina) and performing repairs as required.

Greg Peters, senior structural engineer with CBCL Ltd., presented a report on the 25-year-old structure at the Nov. 16 council meeting.

The company completed an assessment of the rockery walls and provided two concepts for providing long-term repairs and stabilization.

Peters says during the condition assessment some settling and initial slumping of the rock walls was noticed.

Further monitoring of the wall, with an accurate survey, was recommended to see how quickly the wall is actually moving.

Long-term solutions included infilling behind the wall, reinforcing the front and building a new slope.

Costs for the proposed options range from $722,000 to $1.5 million.

The item was tabled for a future budget meeting.
