YARMOUTH - The second annual march in support of women’s rights will be held in Yarmouth on Saturday, Jan. 20.
The event is part of the Women's March Canada, a Canadian national movement to unify and empower everyone who stands for human rights, civil rights and social justice for all.
Dana Osmond, who is organizing the Yarmouth event with Ashley Nickerson and Megan Hatfield, says the march is being held to protest laws and policies that make life more difficult for women and girls. Issues include wage parity, LGBTQ+ rights, and the rights of Women of Colour and transgender women.
“We also want to celebrate the voices that broke the silence behind the #metoo movement and #TimesUp,” said Osmond.
A short rally will be held at 10 a.m., in front of Yarmouth town hall, before the march begins. Members of the crowd will be encouraged to speak.
