NICKERSON, Carole Jean – age 79, of Overton Yarmouth Co., N.S. passed away suddenly on September 1, 2018 in Kentville Regional Hospital. Born September 24, 1938 in Tiverton, Digby Co., she was a daughter to the late Edison and Elinor (Thompson) Outhouse. Carole was passionate about dogs. She was a breeder of Labrador Retrievers and Lhasa Apso’s owning her own business called Carho Kennel’s. She was a lifetime member of the Canadian Kennel Club, member of the Atlantic Labrador Owners Club, Lhasa Apso Club of Canada, and more recently the West Nova Kennell Club. She was a founding member and first president of the Yarmouth S.P.C.A. In her younger years she worked at the Metropolitan Café and then Harris Quick and Tastey, all while raising her family. Carole also enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetable, and bird watching. She is survived by her children; Bernie (Corinne) Nickerson; Jill (Weldon) Nickerson-Smith, Tidnish Bridge N.S; Jackie (Avery) d’Entremont, Pubnico; Karen (Warren) Fevens-Nickerson; Sheila Nickerson; Tim (Cheryl) Nickerson; brother, David (Anne Walker) Outhouse, Bridgewater; sisters, Iris Johnson (Joy), Ontario; Crystal (Jimmy) MacDormad, Westport, N.S.; grandchildren, Kirk (Shonda), Stacey Carole Nickerson, Brett Howard Smith; Dennis (Angeline) d’Entremont; Tammy (Lance) Hamilton; Gerri Fevens (Ivan Milbury); Lacey (Adam) Mullen; Timothy Jake Nickerson; Caitlyn Dawn Nickerson; 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great-grand children. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Howard Nickerson; and her brother, Burton Outhouse. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A graveside service was held Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 10 a.m. from Chegoggin Cemetery, Rev. Ron Clark officiated. A celebration of life followed the burial at Carole’s home, 532 Hwy 304, Overton at 11:30, all were welcomed.
