Elizabeth 'Betty" Whitehouse
WHITEHOUSE, Elizabeth Catherine “Betty” also known as “Mom”, passed away July 9, 2018 at The Meadows Home for Special Care in Yarmouth. Born in Sydney, NS on April 23, 1933, she was the daughter to the late John and Alice (Benzanson) Pasher. Betty was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #61, Yarmouth. She owned and operated Mom’s Place as well as Gold Star Fudge. She is survived by daughters, Lyndell (Wim) Stemerdink, Kitchener, Ont.; Tammy (Paul) Boudreau, Yarmouth; sons, Phillip Lumsden, Brampton, Ont.; John Lumsden, Yarmouth. She is also survived by Fred’s family, whom she thought of as her own. Also surviving are sisters, Lydia Cain, Halifax; Bertha Skerry, Sydney; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Fred Whitehouse; sister, May Tattrie; brothers, Wilfred, David and John Pasher. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 12-2 pm with a funeral service that followed at 2pm, from the Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery, Rev Mr. Stephen Bourque officiated. Family flowers only, in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Brain Tumor Foundation Canada.
