Frances "Joan" Macaloney (Surette) — Yarmouth

MacALONEY (Surette) nee Hall, Frances “Joan”, 78, The Meadows, Yarmouth, passed away April 17, 2018. Born August 1,1939 in Beaver River, NS, she was the daughter to the late Benjamin and Isabelle (Smith) Hall. Joan was a RN nurse during her working career, having the title of head nurse on the 4th floor of the Yarmouth Regional Hospital for many years. She was a faculty member of the RN program at the Yarmouth Hospital and teacher of the CNA program at the Yarmouth Vocational School. She was also the owner and operator of MacAloney Nursing Home in Spring Hill, NS. Joan loved spending winters in Florida as a snowbirder, crocheting, rug hocking and crafts. She is survived by her children, Joseph “ Joey” Surette, Blanford; Becky (Mike) Bullerwell, South Ohio; Faren (Wendy) Surette, Yarmouth; Benny (Erin) Surette, Fall River; grandchildren Karson, Sarah, Emily, Holly, Hannah, Spencer, Ali, Ryann, Ronan; great grandchildren Ander, Molly, Kiana; brother, Hubert (Helen) Hall, Yarmouth; sisters, Carolyn (Mike) Bourque, Yarmouth; Diane Goodwin, Shelburne; Susan (Kent) Bain, Yarmouth; Elizabeth (Ken) Murphy, Yarmouth. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Paul Goodwin and a brother in infancy. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in memory may be made to the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium.
