Janet Burns — Yarmouth

BURNS, Janet May - age 63, North Chegoggin, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018 in The Meadows Home for Special Care in Yarmouth after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Born November 5, 1954 in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Genevieve (Thibedeau) Durkee. Janet worked as the head of finance for the Town of Yarmouth for nearly 33 years. She enjoyed the outdoors and in her spare time loved flower gardening and landscaping at their home. She will be remembered by family and friends as a woman who loved life and lived it to the fullest. She is survived by her loving husband, Al Burns, as well as by their children, Carrie (Lyndon) Allen, Kemptville; Julie Peterson, South Korea; Amanda (Nathaniel) Denton, North Range; Jesse Burns, Yarmouth; Lisa (Clint) Casey, Halifax, as well as by grandchildren, Lauren, Christopher, Kameron, Davon, Sienna, Amia, Anika and Anthony and by her twin brother, John (Nancy) Durkee, Ottawa. The family wishes to send a special thanks to Angela Crosby for the help she gave Al over the last two years in caring for Janet. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth, and the family will hold a private celebration of her life at a later date.
