Vivian Gillan — Yarmouth

GILLAN, Vivian Catherine – age 72, Amirault’s Hill, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born May 1, 1945 in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late Laurie and Susie (Thibeau) Doucette. Vivian was retired from the Canada Employment Agency, where she worked alongside her husband, Jim, both of whom retired the same day. In her spare time, she enjoyed her time spent with the Indian Sluice Seniors, quilting, being an active member of Holy Family Parish, traveling with Jim, singing in the Chorale Acadienne du Sud-Ouest, going to the YMCA and doing yoga. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years and her best friend, Jim Gillan; a brother, Austin (Paula) Doucette, Amirault’s Hill and many nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Surette and a brother, Kenneth Doucette. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A funeral Mass will take place in the Spring. Memorial donations may be made to the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation or to the SPCA.
