Wendy Skaarland — Yarmouth

SKAARLAND, Wendy Anne – age 60, of Overton Yarmouth, Co., N.S. passed away peacefully on July 31, 2018 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital with her family by her side. Born May 13, 1958 she was the daughter to Ruth Churchill (Shaw) and the late Fred Churchill. In her early years Wendy worked with her father on the family farm picking strawberries. She then worked at Dayton Fruit & Vegetable and finished at LG Trask for 10 years before retiring to raise her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She could often be found bringing her children to horse shows, hockey tournaments, and 4H events all around the province. In her spare time, she enjoyed being an entrepreneur. She sold lots of rhubarb and other trees and shrubs to people in the community. Wendy was a lover of all animals, especially cats and horses. She is survived by her mother, Ruth Churchill; loving husband of 29 years, Bryan Skaarland, Overton; son, Jason (Jennifer) Murphy, North Chegoggin; daughter, Mandy (Drew) Jackson, Overton; brothers, Rick Churchill (Janet Emin) Overton; Gary (Yvonne) Churchill, Overton; Chris (Michelle) Churchill, Overton.; grandchildren, Forrest and Harrison Murphy; Emma Jackson. Besides her father she was predeceased by her niece, Shannon Churchill. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Friday, August 3, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with prayers at 8 P.M. A funeral service was held Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 2 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Tim Turpin officiated. Interment followed in Chegoggin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to the Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund.
