Fire has ravaged at least two Hants County homes this month.
On July 5, a home on North River Road was consumed by flames, and on July 14, a home on Woodville Road was also destroyed by fire.
“It’s actually been quite unusual that we get this many (house fires) all in a stretch. Normally we probably do around half a dozen a year,” said Brooklyn Fire Chief Mark Dearman. “Here we’ve had two within almost a week of one another.”
Dearman said the detachment was called in at 12:15 a.m. on Saturday to combat the most recent fire.
“We had about 45 firefighters on scene,” said Dearman. Volunteers from the Windsor, Summerville and Mount Uniacke fire departments also helped battle the blaze. They wrapped up about 4:50 a.m.
No one was home at the time of the fire, which Dearman said, likely started near the stove.
No one was home for the house fire that happened earlier this month, on July 5, either. The cause of that fire was deemed electrical.
Dearman said Brooklyn was alerted to the North River Road fire at about 10:20 a.m.
“We had about 36 people on scene. Along with ourselves, we had Windsor, Summerville, Mount Uniacke, Hantsport and Wolfville,” said Dearman.
