Mariners post 6-2 win over division-leading Pictou Crushers

The Mariners got to toot the bus horn twice Thursday night, Jan. 9, leaving the parking lot in New Glasgow, signifying two points in their big 6-2 win over the division first-place Pictou Crushers.

Goals were scored by Colin Campbell, Kyle Campbell (PP), Sean Fraser, Shawn Boudreau (PP), Braden Mercier and Colin Campbell (SH, empty net).

The Mariners did a great job of killing off all 6 Pictou powerplays. In net Chase Gaudet turned away 22 of 24 shots on net.

Also, back on the Mariners roster for the first time this season was Connor Donaghey, who has returned to the team after playing with the Saint John Sea Dogs in the QMJHL. Donaghey had started last season with the Mariners chipping in 29 pts in 29 games before his recall. He had two assists in the Jan. 9 game against Pictou.

This weekend the Mariners host Dieppe on Friday, Jan. 10 and Miramichi on Saturday, Jan. 11.

The Mariners sit in third place in the Eastlink Division heading into the weekend with 44 points (21 wins and 9 losses). Truro also has 44 points in second place (21 wins and 8 losses.) Pictou remains in first with 50 points (23 wins and 5 losses.)
