The Yarmouth Abuptic Lobster Bantam AA Gateways have advanced to provincials after placing second in a provincial play down tournament that was held in Canning.

Yarmouth lost its first game 6-2 to the Halifax Mets. Game MVP was Matthew Barron with two singles. Jacob Symond also had two singles.

In Game #2 Yarmouth defeated the Dartmouth Arrows 9-3.

The winning pitcher and game MVP was Jacob Symonds with 10 strikeouts. Offensive highlights included Nolan LeBlanc hitting a two-run homerun and a single, Jack Sabine with a homerun, Dylan Spinney with three singles and Sebastian Mullen with two doubles.

In Game #3 Yarmouth shut out the Kentville Wildcats 4-0. Cory Newell and Sebastian Mullen combined to pitch a one hitter with 15 strikeouts. Offensive highlights included Sebastian Mullen with a homerun and a single, Miguel Surette and Brayden Moses each had a single.

Yarmouth will be playing in the provincial tournament over the Labour Day weekend in Shelburne.

The team will also be hosting bantam AA Atlantics in Yarmouth Sept. 12-14.
