Par-en-Bas/Drumlin districts champs hosting baseball regionals on Oct. 7

YARMOUTH, N.S. – The Par-en-Bas/Drumlin team is hosting the NSSAF Senior Western Region Baseball championship tournament on Saturday, Oct. 7, after clinching the district the previous week.

Yarmouth, Barrington and Par-en-Bas competed in the district play-offs, with Par-en-Bas going 2-0, Barrington, 1-0 and Yarmouth 0-2.

Both Par-en-Bas and Barrington advanced to the regional championships where they are meeting Central Kings and Horton for crack at the regional title and the opportunity to advance to the provincial championship tournament on Oct. 13 and 14.

Regional action gets underway at 10 a.m. on Saturday, with games at both Veterans and Gateway fields in Yarmouth.

Here is the Oct. 7 regionals schedule:

• 10 a.m. Game 1: Horton vs PEB/Drumlin at Veterans Field

• 10 a.m. Game 2: Barrington vs Central Kings at Gateway Field

• 1 p.m. Game 3: Winners of games 1 and 2: Veterans Field

• 1 p.m. Game 4: Losers of games 1 and 2 at Gateway Field

• 4:30 p.m. Winner Game 4 vs Loser Game 3 Veterans Field  

At districts, the Par-en-Bas/Drumlin Heights High School baseball team captured the title, defeating Barrington Municipal High School 7-5 on Sept. 29.  Winning pitcher was Gavin O'Connell. Miguel Surette lead the offense with two singles, a double and got the save. Then the team defeated Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School  8-1 on Oct. 1.  Miguel Surette was the winning pitcher with 11 strike outs. The offense was lead by Dylan Spinney with two singles and Hayden Young with three singles.
