Nova Scotia makes it to championship pool of mixed curling national
YARMOUTH – Paul Flemming’s Nova Scotia team has made it to the championship pool of the Canadian mixed curling championships taking place at the Mariners Centre in Yarmouth.
YARMOUTH -- The Nova Scotia team skipped by Paul Flemming will not advance to the semifinal round of the Canadian mixed curling championships being held at the Mariners Centre in Yarmouth.
In semifinal action Saturday morning, Manitoba defeated Ontario 4-2 and Northern Ontario was a 5-4 winner over Saskatchewan.
Manitoba will play Northern Ontario in the championship game at 2:30 while Ontario will face Saskatchewan in the bronze-medal game at the same time.
The Nova Scotia rink had advanced to the championship pool of the national bonspiel, but after losing twice on Thursday, the Flemming team was out contention for a semifinal berth.
The Flemming rink lost 6-2 to Northern Ontario Thursday afternoon and fell to Saskatchewan 8-4 Thursday evening, giving the Nova Scotia entry a record of two wins and six losses.
Nova Scotia defeated Quebec 6-1 Friday morning and then lost 7-3 to Manitoba Friday evening, so the Nova Scotia rink finishes with a record of three wins and seven losses.
