WINDSOR, N.S. - It will be an all New Brunswick Final in the 26th Annual Birthplace of Hockey High School Tournament in Windsor beginning at 1 p.m. on Nov. 5, 2017.
The Harrison Trimble High Trojans from Moncton, New Brunswick defeated the Millwood Knights from Middle Sackville 4-3 in overtime while the Sir. John A. MacDonald Flames fell behind early 2-0 to Ecole Mathieu Martin High from Dieppe, New Brunswick and were unable to come back.
The Avon View Avalanche missed Saturday’s semi-finals by a single goal, as the Flames scored a late goal in their game with Lockview, to knock the Avalanche out after Avon View had been defeated 4-2 by Harrison Trimble.
It was Avon View’s first loss of the tournament after tying Sir. John A. 4-4 and defeating Lockview 2-1.
In the 12:30 game on Nov. 4, Moncton High took a 2-0 lead after one period.
The Avalanche scored a single goal by Liam Parker in the second period to trail only 2-1 going into the third.
In the third Ethan Salsman tied it for the Avalanche before Mac Campbell scored twice for the Trojans.
Avon View garnered only a single point from this game based on the 5-point system and stood at 7.5 points.
But Sir. John A. garnered 4 out of 5 points in their win over Lockview to force a goals for/goals against ratio for a tiebreaker after the Avalanche and Flames tied at 4 in their round-robin.
When this ratio was used, the Avalanche had scored 8 goals in their three-round robin games and allowed 9. Sir. John A. meanwhile had scored 9 goals and it was enough to get them into the semi-finals.
