THE VANGUARD
The Par-en-Bas Sharks are heading to Port Hawkesbury to compete at the NSSAF Division 3 high school hockey provincials.
Last year the Sharks brought home the silver medal from provincials.
This year they’re hoping to bring home the gold.
Par-en-Bas is one of six teams competing at provincials at Division 3 provincials. (A team’s division categorization is determined by the size of its school.)
Also competing at provincials are Inverness, Forest Heights, Richmond, Digby and the host Straight Area Education Recreation Centre.
The games get underway on Friday, with PEB’s first game of provincials being a 10 a.m. matchup against Inverness.
The championship game is at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 23.
Games can be watched online at http://saerc.srsb.ca.
The Sharks advanced to provincials after winning the silver medal at the NSSAF (Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation) regionals. The Sharks lost to Forest Heights in the championship game.
The Sharks have had other big wins this season – they won the Lobster Trap Tournament hosted by the Barrington Barons in January and in February captured the league championship of the Southwest High School Hockey League.
But what the team is really hoping for is a provincial win.
