Yarmouth County Minor Hockey Association weekend results

YARMOUTH, N.S. – The following are results of some Yarmouth County Minor Hockey Association play from this past weekend and the weekend before.

Atom A Mariners lose to Clare

The Tusket Ford Atom A Mariners dropped a league game to Clare on Sunday by a score of 5-2. Scoring for the Mariners were Lucien Doucette and Dominic Jacquard. In net was Lukas Nickerson.


Riptide’s playoff run ends

The Scotiabank Western Riptide West Female Peewee A team played their final two playoff games on the road this past weekend.

The first game was played against Metro West Force Red with the Western Riptide West winning 2-0. Goals were scored by Courtney Fitzgerald and Karli MacDonald with assists from Ocean Sears, Madison Cushing and Carly Kini. The second game was played against Western Riptide East, where the Yarmouth team lost 5-0. This finished off the playoff season for the team which finished 3rd in its league out of eight teams.


Bantam B Mariners drop 1st game in series

The Captains Choice Trucking Bantam B Mariners played West Hants in their first game of a best-of-three provincial playdown series at the Mariners Centre on March 4, with the 4-1 win going to West Hants.

Scoring for Yarmouth was Tristan d'Entremont, with an assist from Rylan d’Entremont.


Two bantam AA wins over Acadia

The Wades Wire Traps/Five Star Roofing Bantam AA Mariners played their two final league hockey games Feb 25 and 26.  They won both games against the first-place Acadia Axemen, securing second place overall in their division as they headed into the league championship tournament, which was held this past weekend.

Game 1: Yarmouth 4 – Acadia 2

Scoring for Yarmouth were Jay DeViller, Donovan Mullen, Brennan Smith and Andre d’Entremont. Adding assists were Zach D’Arcy (2), Andre d’Entremont, Donovan Mullen, Jay DeViller, Hayden Young and Gavin O’Connell.

Charlie Banks was in net and was player of the game. 

Game 2: Yarmouth 6 – Acadia 3

Josh Greene and Hayden Young each had two goals.  Jay DeViller and Zach D’Arcy also scored.

Adding assists were Zach D’Arcy (2), Zach Richardson (2), Brennan Smith, Donovan Mullen, Denver d’Entremont, Josh Greene, Rylan d’Entremont and Ryan Warner.

Liam Campbell was in net. Player of the game went to Josh Greene.


Yarmouth peewee AA splits games with South Shore

The Yarmouth Peewee AA Spears and MacLeod Pharmasave Mariners hockey team played 2 home games against the South Shore Ice Sharks.

Game 1: South Shore 6 – Mariners 2 Goal scorers were Spencer Surette and Jesse Amero.

Game 2: Yarmouth 6 – South Shore 4

Goal scorers were Spencer Surette with a hat trick, Ben LeBlanc, Orren Hatfield, and Jaden Kerr.

Colby Saulnier was in net for both games.



Bantam A Mariners win provincial playdown series

Captains Choice Trucking Bantam B Mariners defeated Acadia 5-1 in the second of a best-of-three provincial playdown series to advance to the next playdown round.

Scoring for Yarmouth were Luke d'Eon with a hat trick, Drew d'Entremont and Rylan d’Entremont. Assists went to Tristan d'Entremont (3), Zach Richardson (3) and Rylan d’Entremont. In nets was Liam Surette.

Yarmouth faces West Hants in the next round.

The same day as the provincial playdown game, Acadia and the Bantam B Mariners played a league championship playoff game with the 6-2 going to Acadia. Scoring for Yarmouth were Rylan d’Entremont and Zach Richardson. Assists went to Drew d’Entremont and Connor. In nets were Austin Surette and Liam White.

Because this was a one-game playoff, Yarmouth does not move on in the league championship playoffs.


Atom A Mariners defeat Warriors

In a total team effort, the Atom AA Chris Scott Construction Mariners played their first game of the second round of provincial playdowns, defeating the West Hants Warriors 6-5.

Prior to this game, the Warriors had been undefeated all season.

Scoring Yarmouth’s goals were Jared Pitman with five goals and Blake Newell. Assists went to Brady Saulnier (2), Sam Hope and Cameron Barnes.

In net, Blake Fish reeled in the win with a strong performance in net.
