Yarmouth County Minor Hockey is holding registration in August for the upcoming 2014-2015 season.

The dates of the registration sessions, which all run from 6-8 p.m. at the Mariners Centre, are:

• Monday, Aug. 11

• Tuesday, Aug. 12

• Monday, Aug. 18

• Tuesday, Aug. 19.

To help the Yarmouth County Minor Hockey Association better prepare for the tryouts in September, any player wishing to try out for a rep team in Yarmouth must register at one of these registration dates. This way the association knows how many players to expect at tryouts. Players will also have to pay a rep tryout fee at the same time as the registration. (That fee amount was still being confirmed at our press deadline. You can check the minor hockey website for an update.) Registrations will not be accepted at tryouts.

After the registration dates in August, people can register for the season through Yarmouth Recreation.

The registration rates have not changed from last year. (Note, the differences in registration costs reflect the different costs of referees needed to officiate games in the respective levels.) The rates each include a $100 recoverable fundraiser amount that people can recoup through the ticket sales.

The registration rates are:

• Initiation (Timbits) $240 + $100 for $340 total

• Atom $280 + $100 for $380 total

• Peewee $290 + $100 for $390 total

• Bantam $300 + $100 for $400 total

• Midget $310 + $100 for $410 total

• Family rate $750 plus recoverable amount (applies to three or more players).

If people are paying by post-dated cheque half of the amount is required at registration time with the other half due by Dec. 1.
