HALIFAX - Hunting season in Nova Scotia began Monday, Sept. 14, in a limited capacity.

Bear hunting season is now open as well deer season for bow hunters. Deer hunting season for muzzleloaders and crossbows begins Sept. 28 with general deer rifle season opening Oct. 30.

Nova Scotians are reminded the Department of Natural Resources has lifted the ban on Sunday hunting for the first two Sundays of general deer hunting season. The change will apply to all wildlife in season on those dates except moose. This year, Sunday hunting will be allowed Nov. 1 and 8.

Hunters and non-hunters are strongly advised to wear hunter-orange clothing when in the woods during hunting seasons.

Hunting regulation booklets are available at all hunting licence vendor locations and Department of Natural Resources offices. The regulations and safety advice are also available online.
