YCMHS girls’ varsity soccer team picks up exhibition wins

The Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School girls’ varsity soccer team has picked up a couple of wins in exhibition play in advance of the start of league play.

On Monday, Sept. 15, the Vikings had a 6-0 shutout win over Barrington. Goal scorers for Yarmouth were Andrea Oguntada (2), Shayna Heroux, Kaylee Blair, Sydney Barr and Sophie Atkinson. In net for Yarmouth were Emma Atkinson and Hallie Moore.      

On Tuesday, Sept. 16, Yarmouth was on the road in Clare, winning by a score of 1-0. Lindsey Minard scored Yarmouth’s goal. In net was Emma Atkinson.

Yarmouth will compete in Division II soccer this year with teams from North Kings, Central Kings and West Kings. Their first league game will be on Sept. 25 when they travel to North Kings.

The team’s first home game will be on Monday, Oct. 6 when they face West Kings.

Oct. 6 at 5 p.m. vs. West Kings

Oct. 9 at 5 p.m. vs. NKEC (North Kings)

Oct. 14 at 5 p.m. vs. Central Kings

Away games:

Sept. 25 at 4:30 p.m. vs NKEC (North Kings)

Sept. 30 at 4:30 p.m. vs. Central Kings

Oct. 3-4 NKEC tournament (North Kings)

Oct. 8 at 4:30 p.m. vs. West Kings

• The regional playoff tournament will be Oct 17 and 18. The team with the best record will host.
