The Yarmouth PetValu Clippers win are the girls' U14 soccer provincial champions.

The team won the U14 Girls Tier 2 B championship on Aug. 31, during a tournament played in Bridgewater.

In Yarmouth’s first game of the tournament the Clippers defeated Fundy United 3-2. Scoring for Yarmouth were Jalisa Fells (2) and Andrea Oguntade.

In Yarmouth’s second game the Clippers shut out West Hants Leighton 3-0. Scoring for Yarmouth were Jalisa Fells, Andrea Oguntade and Grace Hobbs.

In their third game of the tournament Yarmouth tied Dartmouth 1-1. Scoring for Yarmouth was Jalisa Fells.

Yarmouth’s record advanced the team to the championship game.

Yarmouth faced team Scotia in the gold medal game and won the provincial championship with an 8-0 shutout. Scoring for Yarmouth were Jalisa Fells (4), Brenna Verran, Grace Hobbs, Abby Legere and Andrea  Oguntade.

Samantha Nelson was in net for all the games.

Yarmouth had finished their league in first place prior to provincials, after having won all of their games in the regular season and playdowns.

The Clippers roster this year included: Jalisa Fells, Andrea Oguntade, Hannah Saulnier, Hayden Saulnier, Grace Hobbs, Saige Breton, Abby Legere, Katherine Kini, Caileigh White, Kaia Lowe, Megan Hurlburt, Brenna Verran, Savannah Richard, Emma Corporon, Sam Surette, Samantha Nelson.

Head coach: Bruce Hobbs

Assistant coaches: Jason Nelson, Mark Corporon

Manager: Sonya Breton

 

This was a successful Labour Day weekend at provincials for Yarmouth teams.
