YARMOUTH, N.S. — Guests attending the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation Spring Gala on May 25 had a lot of fun setting a new record for the event.
Over $56,000 was raised through the 15th annual fundraiser, which included a dinner, auction and dance, plus a balloon blitz, diamond draw and silent/live auction.
“It was the best gala night total in the 15-year history (of the event),” said spokesperson Linda Deveau.
Entertainment included the band Big Fish and a presentation by the Maritime Bhangra dancers during the cocktail hour. When the Bhangra dancers completed their dance, they invited 20 people onto the dance floor to try their hand at some Bollywood/Bhangra moves and dances.
All proceeds will be directed towards the purchase of a portable digital X-ray unit for the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, which serves the tri-county area of Digby, Shelburne and Yarmouth. (Cost is $235,865.)
Through the fundraising efforts of the annual spring gala over $568,000 has been raised to date towards the purchase of vital hospital equipment such as CT scanner, cancer centre, two laparoscopic suites, MRI, heart monitor defibrillators and more.
