It happened – Sept. 21 came and went, marking the official end of summer. It’s getting to be what the Sami people in Northern Sweden call tjaktjagiesse or “autumn-summer” — a cusp season that hints at dramatic changes to come, a reminder to rest in the moment before it all changes. Tjaktjagiesse – try saying that three times fast.

Fall food festivals

Fall food festival season is upon us, kicking off last weekend with the Avondale sky garlic festival and Halifax Vegfest. If you missed it, fret not the series continues into the end of September, check out the roster. 

Hike NS fall hiking series

What better way to get outside and take in the autumn colours than with Hike NS and their fall hiking series? They'll be offering over 50 hikes, taking place all over the province at varying levels from easy to more challenging so, you can be sure that there’s something for everyone on the Nova Scotian trails.  

Deep Roots Music Festival

Set in the beautiful Annapolis Valley, the annual Deep Roots Music festival is set to kick off this Thursday through Sunday. Celebrating 16 years of uniting the best of local talent, come out and see your favorites! And there’s always the chance to discover the new voices of Nova Scotia, such as singer/songwriter Terra Spencer.
