YARMOUTH, N.S. — The Mariners Centre was a popular destination on Friday for hundreds of hungry folks. They turned out for barbecued ribs and chicken, blooming onions, fries and more at the fourth annual Ribfest. In the past, the event was held on the Yarmouth Waterfront but the new venue provides easier access to parking and has more room for ribbers and customers. The venue includes inflatable play areas outside for children and a large craft show (10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily) inside one of the arenas.

Ribfest hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday (July 6) and 11a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday (July 7).

All proceeds from Ribfest are being donated to the charities and organizations who provide the excellent volunteer service that makes the event possible. You'll see many volunteers from Yarmouth 4H, Search and Rescue, and Yarmouth County Minor Hockey, and others, on site.

The event is set up in the front parking lot of the Mariners Centre (Parking for the public is in the overflow area of the Mariners Centre property. People are encouraged to use the Jody Shelley Drive entrance. Ground Search and Rescue is volunteering to assist with the parking and will be charging $2 to park as a fundraiser for their organization.)
