A true legend of songwriting is joined by a master of both the slide guitar and heartbreaking ballads as James Taylor & His All Star Band bring special guest Bonnie Raitt to Halifax's Scotiabank Centre on Friday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m.

The show is part of a spring coast-to-coast Canadian tour featuring the two Grammy Award-winning performers that stretches from Victoria, B.C. to St. John's, N.L. It will follow the release of Taylor's upcoming new album on Fantasy Records, due for release in early 2020. Purchased tickets will include a CD or digital download copy of the new material.

Taylor's career stretches from becoming the first non-British artist signed by the Beatles to their label Apple Records through decades of critically acclaimed albums and radio hits like Fire and Rain, You've Got a Friend and How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You). Over the years, he has also used his star power to bring attention to environmental and democratic issues.

His activism played a major part in the all-star No Nukes concert (and subsequent live album) 40 years ago at New York City's Madison Square Garden, where he was joined by Raitt, who had become known for her powerful voice and skilful guitar playing. A decade later, her 1989 album Nick of Time and its followup Luck of the Draw would elevate Raitt to superstar status with numerous Grammy Awards and hits like Something to Talk About and I Can't Make You Love Me.

Tickets for James Taylor with guest Bonnie Raitt are $108 upper bowl/$148 lower bowl and floor, and go on sale on Friday, Dec. 6 at 9 a.m. They will be available at the Ticket Atlantic box office (902-451-1221 or ticketatlantic.com) and participating Atlantic Superstore outlets. There is also a presale for fans registered at www.jamestaylor.com starting Tuesday at 10 a.m.
