YARMOUTH, N.S. – As the Christmas carol goes – ‘Bring it! Fa la la la laaaa, la la la la.’

Okay, so those aren't the exact words, but the staff at Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School have stepped up to the holiday plate with their own Christmas lip dub after being inspired by their Drumlin Heights counterparts to do so. The staff at that Yarmouth County school had recently posted their own lively lip dub filmed. After seeing the Drumlin video, the YCMHS staff decided they couldn't just stand idly by – despite their dance moves.

“We were inspired by the drumlin video,” says YCMHS student support worker Steve Berry, who says they then started planning their own video for a bit.

They eventually settled on the song Christmas in Hollis by Run DMC.

And from there the creativity flowed. Here's the video:

“We brainstormed and came up with the idea. We broke up the song into stanzas and each group was responsible for their own part,” explains Berry. “We met after school and did a few takes and bam!”

“It will definitely be something we’ll do again and look forward to friendly competition from Drumlin and other schools,” he says, saying the students love the video, which had hit 1,455 views in less than 12 hours. At the time of this posting the views were up to 2,102.

“YCMHS staff believe it’s important to show spirit and pride as a staff as what you do outside the classroom often translates in to positive outcomes inside the classroom,” Berry says. “You can feel the fun we’re all having translate from the video to all those watching. That was our hope to have fun and spread some spirit.

“I think we accomplished that. Lots of smiles while watching it,” says Berry, adding, as well, “And to show up Drumlin, LOL.”
