The hosting organization - Yarmouth Connecting Women in Business - is now under the umbrella of the Tri-County Women’s Centre (TCWC) and partnering with CBDC Yarmouth.

Marlene Surette, who acts as chair for the event for the TCWC, says the collaboration ensures women business owners that the tradeshow will be held every year.

The partners will be planning ways to learn, support, promote, and organize social and educational events to meet a variety of needs for women in business.

The Winterlude event typically draws many exhibitors and large crowds; last year there were 52 exhibitors and a waiting list. New businesses and entrepreneurs are welcome, especially those who have a unique product or service.

“When you can have as many as 500-plus women coming through the doors there is certainly something for everyone,” said Surette.

Events chair Linda Cain also commented on the diversity of services and products.

“Information from self-care, fitness and health, to leisure and lifestyle, as well as work, career and life planning will be available. It’s an all-day experience.”

Gift bags are provided upon entry, with door and draw prizes happening throughout the day.

Whether they are home based or have a storefront, are large or small businesses, women business owners can likely benefit from this form of networking opportunity.

The Reveal Makeover event is returning by popular demand. Three women are chosen through a nominating process for a complete makeover, sponsored by Connecting Women in Business and local businesses.

They will have a new hairstyle, make-up, manicure, pedicure and more, overseen by committee members Shawna Jackson and Melanie Surette.

The prerequisite is that these women must be business owners and/or entering the business workforce.

They can nominate themselves, or someone they know who deserves extra TLC, by forwarding their/her story in 400 words or less on why she feels they/she deserves a makeover.

Send your stories and a photo of the woman you want nominated by e-mail to:  makeover @yarmouthwinterlude.com or mail or drop off the information to Connecting Women in Business Makeover, 12 Cumberland St., Yarmouth, NS B5A 3K3. Entries must be submitted by Oct.15, 2013.
