PUBNICO HEAD, YARMOUTH COUNTY, N.S. – Tragedy has hit a community in Yarmouth County.
At 12:13 a.m. Sunday morning the RCMP received a 911 call about a house on fire on Highway 3 in Pubnico Head.
According to a media release issued shortly after 10 a.m., the RCMP remain on the scene and can confirm there are fatalities. No genders or ages have been released publically at this time, but reports from the community are that children have died.
The RCMP are in the preliminary stages of the investigation and will be releasing details to this afternoon when RCMP Media Relations Officer, Cpl. Jennifer Clarke will speak to media at 2 p.m., at the Yarmouth Rural RCMP Detachment.
The RCMP have secured the scene and have requested assistance with the investigation from the Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal. There has also been a road closure in place since the time of the fire and it remained in place all morning.
Numerous fire departments responded to the fire.
