A Digby County man has died and the passenger in the car injured after a single-car crash on Highway 103 in Port Mouton early Friday morning.

When Queens District RCMP responded to the collision at 4:53 a.m., they found an injured man in the passenger seat and the driver, who had been ejected from the vehicle, dead on the ground near the car.

A preliminary investigation “has determined the vehicle left the roadway, struck some trees, then came to a stop in the ditch,” the RCMP said in a news release.

The passenger was treated by EHS and taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver was a 31-year-old man from Beaver River, Digby County.

Traffic was stopped in both directions for several hours while police examined the scene for evidence. No detour was available for the area.
