Yarmouth Fire Department Platoon Chief Lynn Seeley says firefighters searched each apartment and did not find anyone inside when they arrived. There are at least four apartments in the building.

"It was burning quite heavily on the outside," said Seeley. Fire could be seen flickering through the roof as the firefighters went inside to check. The incident caused traffic to slow down in the immediate area with many vehicles parked along the shoulder of the Main Shore Road.
