To our valued readers,

We have news to share. After many years of running multiple websites – TheVanguard.ca, DigbyCourier.ca and TheCoastGuard.ca – we’re moving to a single digital home for all Yarmouth County, Shelburne County and Digby County community content. On Tuesday, Jan. 28, all our sites will move to the Yarmouth and Southwest Nova Scotia section of SaltWire.com.

This is great news for our newsroom journalists. As local residents, we are proud of our work and the places we call home. This move is important to us. Rather than spending a lot of our time updating and managing three websites – which is time consuming and also involves a lot of duplication – we’ll be able to free up more of our time to find and tell even more of the local stories, while still getting the news to you in print and online.

On Saltwire.com you will receive the same kind of community content you are used to reading for free. In addition to this, you can also explore the premium stories available from our area and other communities. You will get three free premium articles per month, or you can become a member by purchasing a digital subscription, giving you complete access to all premium content and special features from all of our Saltwire.com publications on the website.

The associated print publication – Tri-County Vanguard – will remain unchanged. SaltWire.com will become its single, streamlined digital counterpart. We know our readers have experienced a lot of change over the years, and we appreciate your patience and support as we work towards a sustainable model for local news. These are challenging times for our industry. We couldn't do what we do without your support of local journalism.

We’re committed to making this change as easy for you as possible. On Jan. 28, the website URLs you are used to will automatically redirect you to the Yarmouth and Southwest Nova Scotia section of SaltWire.com, where you will find stories from this region. Or, you can also go directly to SaltWire.com and choose this section from the top left-hand corner location-picker.

With this change we're looking forward to spending less time in our administrative back-end of multiple websites and having more time to focus on what matters most: telling the local stories that are important to our communities.

Also don’t forget, you can visit, explore and read Saltwire.com even before we make our change, including in the Yarmouth and Southwest Nova Scotia page where much of our content can already be found. While in Saltwire.com you can find and read local, provincial, regional, national and world news, along with breaking news – with easy access and navigation to all of our Saltwire publications with simple clicks within the site.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to let us know.

We can’t wait to see you at SaltWire.com.

Your dedicated newsroom team,

Tina Comeau, Eric Bourque, Carla Allen and Kathy Johnson
