SAULNIERVILLE, N.S. —

For the second year in a row, the Municipality of Clare has launched its Season of Giving campaign to collect donations for local charitable organizations.

Until Thursday, Dec. 19, residents are encouraged to drop off a donation, such as a non-perishable food item or new toy, to the municipal office during office hours.

According to recent statistics from Feed Nova Scotia, 42,000 Nova Scotians were supported by food banks in 2018 and one in five children in the province are currently living in poverty. The community of Clare is not untouched by these numbers.

Once again, food donations and toiletries will be brought to the Clare Food Bank at the Sacré Coeur Parish Hall in Saulnierville, while toy donations will be brought to Les papas Noël de Clare.

Residents are also invited to drop off donations at three holiday events organized by the Municipality of Clare’s Recreation Services:

• Lighting of the Christmas Tree: Sunday, Dec. 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Clare Veterans Centre;

• RBC Skate with Santa: Saturday, Dec. 7, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Université Sainte-Anne’s arena;

• Christmas in Havelock: Saturday, Dec. 14, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Havelock Community Centre.
