YARMOUTH, N.S. — CARLA ALLEN
Tri-County Vanguard
The Municipality of Yarmouth is providing a new option for payment of taxes.
They can now be made through Paymentus Corporation's website using an IPad located in the foyer of the administration department of the municipal building, located at 932 Highway 1 in Hebron.
CAO Victoria Brooks says previously there had been a bit of a “customer service hiccup” in the way credit card payments were made in the building.
“There wasn’t a seamless flow and we had no way of an individual using a credit card to pay if he or she was here,” she says.
“We’ve established this iPad here so that if an individual comes in and wants to pay for any services at the municipal level, they can do it at this kiosk.”
She adds that the addition is a collaborative project amongst staff who were trying to work on their customer service.
“This is what we came up with in order not to incur any extra operating costs for the municipality.”
Paymentus Corporation is an independent third-party company, which does charge a fee to credit card users for provision of their service to cover the cost of payment handling and processing.
The fee is 1.75 per cent of the payment amount and is billed directly to your credit card.
The Municipality of Yarmouth does not receive any part of the service fee.
