YARMOUTH, N.S. — A new trailer has been released for the movie - The Lighthouse - directed by Robert Eggers, starring the rough terrain of Cape Forchu, an authentic-looking 18th-century lighthouse, and, of course, Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson.

The movie is scheduled for the Sept. 19 closing night gala presentation at the 2019 FIN Atlantic International Film FestivalSept. 12-19 in Halifax.

The festival will feature world-class talent, including four-time Academy Award nominee Dafoe, the much talked about Eggers, award-winning Canadian directors François Girard and Atom Egoyan and Nova Scotia superstar Ellen Page.

The Lighthouse is fresh from the Toronto International Film Festival, where it received rave reviews, including a 9 out of 10 from Andrew Parker with these comments: "There’s plenty of gore, vomit, excrement, sweat, grime, sirens, and tentacles to be found in The Lighthouse, but the main attraction here is the off-the-charts comedic and dramatic chemistry shared between Pattinson and Dafoe, with the former giving a career-best performance."

Municipality of Yarmouth councillor Patti Durkee attended the screening in Toronto and says Eggers spoke very highly of the crew and said their hearts were with Nova Scotia today.

"I spoke to producers and asked for a screening in Yarmouth, which I expect we will see happen."

In addition to the craggy outcrop at Cape Forchu, scenes were also filmed in a hanger at the Yarmouth airport. Indiewire.com says A24 will release “The Lighthouse” in "select New York and Los Angeles theaters," starting Oct. 18. The movie will expand across the country in the weeks following.
