Fortunately there were no injuries when a vehicle that was being parked on Main Street ended up on the sidewalk and striking a building instead.

The Yarmouth town RCMP responded to the call that happened at 12:09 p.m. on Monday, May 6. It was reported to the police that a vehicle had struck a building on Main Street.

“Police determined the driver of the vehicle was attempting to park it, when his dog stepped on his leg and the driver stepped on the gas instead of the brake,” said RCMP Corporal Jennifer Clarke. “That's when his vehicle struck the building.”

Clarke said the 66-year-old driver from Pubnico was ticketed for Unsafe Backing under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Clarke said no one was hurt but there was damage to the building. The RCMP contacted the town to come assess the building.

A front window of the building was broken and a very large hole was punched in the brick building.
