A multi-component playset behind the former Saint-Albert elementary school in Salmon River is being moved to the Meteghan Family Park.
The Municipality of Clare has arranged for relocation costs of the playset from the purchase price paid for the building by Pound Cannabis Inc. The company purchased the building for $40,100 for a commercial cannabis micro-cultivation operation.
The playground equipment for the school was a result of a community fundraising effort several decades ago.
Stéphane Cyr, CAO for the municipality, says it was a concern to see the equipment not being used and that Harold Boudreau, the founder of the Meteghan Family Park, is very pleased and eager to get the equipment in place.
“He’s very, very community-minded. Without him, this park in Meteghan would not continue to exist,” said Cyr.
The municipality is also assisting with costs to repair the fencing around the park.
