RCMP say investigation is underway after man found suffering from a stab wound in East Pubnico

EAST PUBNICO, N.S. — The RCMP say they are investigating an alleged attempted murder in East Pubnico, Yarmouth County, after responding to a report of a man who was found suffering from a knife wound to his back on the ground outside a home in the community on April 28.

The Yarmouth Rural RCMP received the emergency call at 8:07 p.m. on Sunday. In a media release, the RCMP say the man was transported to hospital via LifeFlight and is expected to survive.

The RCMP said on Monday morning that they had arrested a 28-year-old man from a nearby home in connection with the incident. He was in police custody Monday morning.

The person’s name was not released as there had not been charges laid.

Highway 3, in the immediate area of the incident, was closed by the RCMP Sunday evening for the purpose of collecting evidence. RCMP remained on the scene on April 29, and the road was expected to remain closed until late afternoon.

At this point, the RCMP is not releasing other details.

The RCMP's Southwest Nova Major Crimes Unit is investigating and is being assisted by RCMP forensic identification technicians.
