Yarmouth man charged with sexual assault

YARMOUTH, N.S. — A Yarmouth man is facing an allegation of sexual assault and is due to appear in provincial court on May 28.

Dominic Jacob Deveau, 44, of Yarmouth has been charged with one count of sexual assault. He was arrested on April 3 and was released later that day by police on conditions, including to have no contact with the victim.

In a media release, the RCMP say that on April 2, the Yarmouth Rural RCMP began an investigation into a report of sexual assault. According to the RCMP, on March 3 the victim met a man at a coffee shop then went for a drive outside of town with him. The RCMP say she was sexually assaulted by him.

In their media release the RCMP say they are concerned there may be additional victims. Anyone who feels they have been victimized is asked to contact Yarmouth Rural RCMP at 902-742-9106.
