YARMOUTH, N.S. — At 10:25 p.m. on May 22, Yarmouth Town RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on Argyle Street. The caller reported a car hit a pole and the driver fled the scene. The caller also provided police with a description of the driver.

An RCMP police dog and handler were called to search for the driver. They located her approximately 200 metres from the collision scene and she was arrested. She was showing signs of impairment by alcohol and was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

The 29-year-old Yarmouth woman refused a demand for blood samples and is facing charges of Impaired Driving and Refusal of a Breath Demand. She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court on July 8.

The investigation is ongoing.
