Police lay charges after man suffers life-threatening stab wound in Dartmouth

An 18-year-old man is in custody after Halifax Regional Police found another man with a life-threatening stab wound in Dartmouth Tuesday evening. 

At 7:18 p.m., officers responded to a report of a man with stab wounds in the 0-100 block of Lancaster Drive, police said in a news release.

Police found the injured man, 58, with a life-threatening stab wound and arrested an 18-year-old man. The suspect had non-life-threatening injuries. The 58-year-old man was taken to hospital. 

Police secured the premises for a search warrant and are not looking for any other suspects as both men are known to each other. 

Evan Arsenault, 18 of Dartmouth, was charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, assault, uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He is to appear in Dartmouth provincial court Wednesday.
