Knowledge in Action is the name of Université Sainte-Anne's 2019-2024 strategic plan, which was presented by Allister Surette, the university's president and vice-chancellor, at a gathering of staff members in the Marc Lescarbot Theatre in Church Point.

Development of the plan had been underway for over a year.

Throughout its preparation, Université Sainte-Anne's stakeholders and partners were called upon to speak to the challenges ahead, as well as to articulate a shared vision of the institution's future.

This large-scale mobilisation gave rise to constructive exchanges with over 120 individuals, which made it possible to establish a broad consensus on the institution's overall direction, as well as the means required to achieve it, the university said on its website.

During his presentation to staff members, Surette said, “Over 95 per cent of the initiatives and projects proposed during the previous strategic plan were achieved, which is a testament to the will to make strategic planning an institutional priority. I am therefore confident that this new strategic plan will provide us with an overall trajectory and forms the basis for the road map that will guide our initiatives and projects for the next five years.”

Université Sainte-Anne “would like to stress the exceptional level of commitment and collaboration on the part of the various participants in this consultation process,” the university said.

The plan was developed by calling on the community's participation, with consultations with members of the board, the university senate and the teaching staff, as well as the institution's other staff, the student population, partners and stakeholders in the province's French-speaking and Acadian community.

Université Sainte-Anne's 2019-2024 strategic plan may be viewed on the university’s website. Those who wish to do so may also ask for a copy by contacting Sophie Thériault 902-769-2114 (ext. 7301).

The following are highlights from key strategies in the university’s plan for 2019-2024:

Recruitment, retention and the student experience

A new institutional strategy for recruiting students will be developed with a view to increase student enrolment. Various activities of experiential learning will supplement the university’s study programs.

Innovation and excellence in education and research

Université Sainte-Anne will increase its efforts to promote quality education and research by supporting the faculty in their endeavours. It will strengthen its research areas and strategic interdisciplinary fields and encourage innovation on all levels.
