WINDSOR, N.S. — Highway 101 near downtown Windsor was closed to traffic briefly over the lunch hour June 11 following a motor vehicle accident.
Windsor and Hantsport firefighters were called to the accident around 11:46 a.m.
Randell Davidson, a deputy chief with the Hantsport Fire Department, said in a phone interview that a minivan hit an object while travelling eastbound, towards Halifax.
“It was a bale of hay that had fallen off another truck,” said Davidson.
No injuries were sustained in the accident and Davidson said there was “fairly minor” damage to the vehicle.
The highway reopened to traffic about 30 minutes later.
Due to the potential damage that can be caused by unsecured loads, Davidson wished to remind motorists of the importance of double-checking vehicles before hitting the road.
“For people hauling things on their vehicle, make sure loads are secured.”
