YARMOUTH - Submit your innovative ideas to solve an issue within Yarmouth by Feb. 1 and your community could win up to $50 million to put that idea into action.

The Town of Yarmouth has entered into Infrastructure Canada’s Smart City Challenge and Caroline Robertson, the town’s director of planning, hopes many residents participate.

“One of the things that really struck us was that they (challenge organizers) want the issues and solutions to come from the public,” she said

She’s encouraging the public to visit the town’s new Get Involved Yarmouth website to submit ideas before the deadline of Feb. 1.

The ideas will be evaluated by town staff and a vote will be held on which to submit to the national contest.

Those not comfortable using the website can visit the planning department at town hall and talk to staff about their ideas.

“Hopefully we’ll win and get lots of money and be able to do something amazing for our community,” said Robertson.
