A. Scott Brittain
BRITTAIN, A. Scott – age 68, Carleton, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 25, 2019 with his family at his side. Born September 17, 1950 in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late Neil and Barbara (Higby) Brittain. Scott was an electrician, having started his career working at the VG Hospital in Halifax. After marrying his wife, Mildred M. (Thibault), they moved to the Porter’s Lake Trailer Park. They welcomed their first daughter, Michelle, in 1974. That same year they built a home in Musquodoboit Harbour, and welcomed their second daughter, Carri-Ann in 1975 and where they lived until 1979 when they decided to move back to Yarmouth where they had their third daughter, Christa, born in 1979. They built a home in Carleton, where he lived until his passing. Over the years he worked for various contractors in Yarmouth, after which he took a job with Rio Algom and subsequently worked off-shore aboard oil rigs, retiring in 2014. Scott loved the outdoors where he was most at peace; Kejimkujik was his second home. His family always came first; he will be greatly missed by them all. He was a great father, grandfather and friend and he was a good and hard-working man. Aside from his loving wife, Mildred, he is survived by their daughters, Michelle (Kris) White, Carri-Ann Brittain (Steven Eisnor) and Christa Brittain (Cody Rawding), along with six grandchildren and his beloved companion, Riley (Springer Spaniel); brothers, Brian (Patsy) Brittain, Wayne (Janet) Brittain and a sister, Cathy (Scott) Deveau. He was predeceased by his parents, Neil and Barbara. Arrangements were entrusted to H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There will be no visitation or memorial service at this time. Donations in memory of Scott may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the SPCA.
