DOUCETTE, Daniel Albert – age 75, Springhaven, Yarmouth Co., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 9, 2018. Born in Springhaven on September 28, 1942, he was a son of the late Mandé and Agnes (Muise) Doucette. Daniel was a retired school teacher. After graduating from Nova Scotia Teacher’s College in Truro, he taught for eight years at Arcadia School before moving to Saskatchewan, where he taught for the next 21 years in the towns of Leader and Oxbow. After retiring, Daniel returned to his home community of Springhaven. Daniel was a gifted musician who had the ability to play the guitar, the mandolin, the piano and the organ. Over the years he entertained many people as a member of many groups and bands. He also played at Saint Agnes Church in Quinan. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He enjoyed doing genealogy and was a member of the Argyle Municipality Historical and Genealogical Society. He is survived by a sister, Beatrice Doucette, Wedgeport, a brother, Arthur (Diann) Doucette, Willow Grove, NB and 14 nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Albert in infancy, Emile, Benoit “Bennie” and John, as well as by sisters, Juliette in childhood and Yvonne Surette. Visitation took place from 7-9 p.m., Thursday with prayers at 8 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. A funeral Mass was held on Friday, April 13 at 11 a.m. from Saint Agnes Church, Quinan, Father Albeni d’Entremont officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
