Delmer Bourque — Yarmouth

BOURQUE, Delmer J. - age 65, Sluice Point, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Monday, March 12, 2018 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Born January 11, 1953 in Sluice Point, he was a son of the late Enos and Julia (Babin) Bourque. Delmer worked as a scallop and lobster fisherman for many years, and spent the past 18 years working at Inshore Fisheries in West Pubnico. A jack-of all-trades and an all around handyman, Delmer was always ready to lend a helping hand to those who needed his help. He enjoyed playing darts every weekend, hunting and playing cards with his friends. He is survived by his children, Dawn (Bruce) Doucette and Dean Bourque, as well as by his grandchildren, Ryan and Scarlet, all of Sluice Point. Also surviving are sisters, Dora (Richard) Atkinson, Sluice Point and Pearl (Gary) Saulnier, Cannan. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Dianne M. (d’Eon) Bourque, who died only a few months ago on November 2, 2017, as well as by a sister, Janice Bourque and a brother, James Bourque. Visitation took place from 7-9 Wednesday, with prayers at 8 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 15 from Holy Family Catholic Church, Amirault’s Hill, Father Maurice LeBlanc officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. It was requested that there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation or to Holy Family Church.
