DOUCETTE, Delphis George It is with deepest sadness that Delphis George Doucette, age 80, passed away peacefully at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on September 14, 2019. Born on April 23, 1939 in Wedgeport he was a son to the late Sylvester and Frances (LeBlanc) Doucette. He was a fisherman for many years and captain to three boats, a carpenter by trade in the summer months. He was a hard worker and would help anyone who needed him. He loved to go hunting with his buddies. He could be seen playing cards with his friend Buzz every week. Buzz was quite a companion, where the two of them were, there was always laughter. Delphis had many many friends, camping friends and neighbors who always said they will miss his contagious smile. Delphis was a kind man, gentle and would talk to anyone. He was a wonderful loving man, loving husband, father and grandfather. His love for his grandchildren was amazing. We will always love you and miss you. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years ,Shirley (Penney) Doucette; son, Sandy (MariJo) Doucette; daughters, Loralee (Jim) Brush; June (Tim) Fiander; grandchildren, Devan, Melissa (Troy), Nicole, Kolten (Courtney), Tyler, Crystal, Jordan (Chelsea) and many foster grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Tyrone, Grace, Keesha and Mattea. Bamp we will miss you terribly. Also survived by sister, Catherine (Joe) Doucette; brothers, Gerald and Paul. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Alvin, Joe, Victor and Augusta. A special appreciation to his brother, Gerald and sister, Catherine (Joe) for all the time spent with him in the Hospital. Also, the staff of 3 South for their exceptional care of Delphis. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. The family will be having a celebration of his life at the South Ohio Community Center on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 2 p.m. All is welcome. A family interment will take place at the Chebogue Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Chebogue Cemetery or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
