Donna Hamilton — Yarmouth

HAMILTON, Donna Lavern – age 73, of Yarmouth passed away on November 5, 2018 at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born March 18, 1945 she was a daughter to the late Walter and Hilda (Doucette) Hamilton. Donna was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family dearly. She was a strong, independent, yet humble woman. In her early years she worked at Wagner’s Restaurant in Yarmouth where she met her husband. Shortly after they moved to the USA for 4 years before returning to Nova Scotia to work at the Mic Mac Hotel in Dartmouth. In 1984 she moved back to Yarmouth where she worked at the Mermaid Motel and then Beacon United Church as a secretary until she retired. In her spare time Donna was an avid reader of all books. She is survived by her daughter, Lana-Dawn Grimes, Yarmouth; son, Glen Grimes, Yarmouth; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Grimes, Cameron Grimes, Kristie Grimes, and Cindy Grimes as well as 2 great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Gary Hamilton. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A graveside service took place on Tuesday November 13th at 2 P.M. from Carleton Cemetery, Rev. Sharon Lohnes officiated. Family flowers only please.
