COOK, Dorothy Carol – age 85 of the Meadow’s Home for Special Care passed away peacefully on August 18, 2018. Born in Lower Woods Harbour on September 17,1932 she was a daughter to the late Eldridge and Venetia (Jeffery) Chetwynd. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family dearly. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. In her younger years she moved to Ontario for work to support her family. Upon returning she worked for Cosmos Imperial Mill for many years. In her spare time, she was an avid reader, volunteered at the Yarmouth Hospital gift shop, and Gateway Canteen from 1976-1978 where she was known to run a tight ship. She also loved travelling south with her husband Ken. Dorothy was also caregiver to many of her family members. She is survived by her son, Cory (Barbara) Cook, Chebogue; daughter, Wanda (Steven) Scott, Bellneck; sister, Letty Muise, Lower Woods Harbour; grandchildren, Riley Cook, Haley Scott, Jeff Scott and her great grandson, Owen Boudreau. Besides her parents she was pre-deceased by her husband, Kenneth Cook; brother, Sidney Chetwynd; sisters, Helen Chetwynd, Annie Symonds, Edna Symonds, Norma Stoddard, Elsie Goreham and Evelyn Scoville. There was no visitation by request. A funeral service was held Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 11 a.m. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Father Henry Smolenaars officiated. Interment followed in Chebogue Cemetery. Following the burial, a reception was held in the Saint Ambrose Jubilee Room. Family flowers only.
