Emily Edna Anthony

Emily Edna Anthony
ANTHONY, Emily Edna Emily Edna Anthony, age 90, of Central Chebogue. Our beloved mother and grandmother was called home to Heaven on August 3, 2019, at home, with family at her side. Born January 25, 1929 in Scotch Village, Hants Co., she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Myrtle (Sanderson) Hazel. Emily was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She raised her four children while working alongside her husband, Bob, to run their company, H.V. Anthony Greenhouses, Ltd. She was often found out in Greenhouse #1, planting and tending to all the seedlings. Bob & Emily enjoyed many travels, the highlight of which was a cross-country road trip to the Yukon, successfully locating the resting place of Bob’s grandfather. She was a member of the Opal Rebekah Lodge. She was a faithful member of the Central Chebogue United Baptist Church, and continued though its amalgamation into New Heights Baptist Church in Arcadia. While her health prevented her from attending church in later years, Emily’s faith was an example to us all, and her prayers for her family sustained us. Emily lived the example from scripture: “Rejoice in hope, be patient in affliction, be constant in prayer.” Romans 12:12. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert (Bob); son, Wendel; grandson, Ryan, and all of her siblings, Evelyn (Nathan) Porter, Waldo (Kay) Hazel, Helena (Merton) Burgess, Gwendolyn (Claude) Rogers and Thelma (Perley) Mosher. She is survived by three children, Blaine (Stella), Dayton, Leland (Dianna), Chebogue, Sharon, Dayton and daughter-in-law, Rebecca, Chebogue. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Alana, Keir, Meighan (Morley Knight), Jeffrey, Harold (Gina), David (Michelle) and Alexander (Coral-Lee). Emily loved her great-grandchildren dearly, Iain, William and Benjamin, Jonah and Emily, Tristen, and Kyla. Emily is also survived by her many nieces and nephews and their families. Our heartfelt thanks to all the medical and homecare personnel: Dr. Tom Muise, Dr. Roland Muise, Dr. Mark Riley, Dr. Lisa Gillis and the Palliative Care staff, Gertrude Sweeney and Family 1st Medical, Home Care, VON, and the multiple private homecare providers who all gave Emily their best. You all made it possible for us to fulfill her wish to remain at home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 6 at 7-9 p.m. at Sweeny’s Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 7, at 2 p.m. at New Heights Baptist Church in Arcadia, with Rev. Craig Minard officiating. Interment will take place in the Central Chebogue Cemetery. Donations may be made to New Heights Baptist Church, the Canadian Diabetes Association, or to the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be sent to: [email protected] or you may sign the guestbook online at: www.sweenysfuneralhome.net.
